How to fix Chrome "AW, Snap" Error
Several times I have come across Chrome’s browser “Aw, Snap” error in several customers' computers so I decided to write this article with the methods I have tried to fix this error. From my experience, I found that “Aw, Snap” error happens randomly when you are using your Chrome browser (not in every web page) and it may be due to a Chrome incompatible plugin or extension or due to a hardware problem like a defected graphics card (VGA) or a defected memory (RAM) module. The detailed “Aw, Snap” error is as follows: “Aw, Snap! Something went wrong while displaying this webpage. To continue, reload or go to another page”.
If you also face the “Aw, Error” and supposing that your hardware is not defected, then you can try the following solutions to resolve the Chrome “Aw, Snap” error:
Before continuing to implement the methods below, first try the following.
- Clear Chrome browsing data.
- Temporarily turn off (disable) your Antivirus and your Firewall program.
- Scan your computer for malware programs by using this guide: Malware Removal Guide to clean your infected computer
- Install a fresh copy of Google Chrome. See instructions here.
Solution 1: Disable hardware acceleration.
1. Open Google Chrome and go to chrome menu and choose "Settings".
2. Scroll down the “Settings” window until you find and click the “Show Advanced Settings” option.
3. Scroll down the window again and uncheck the “Use hardware acceleration when available” option.
4. Restart your Chrome browser and see if “Aw, Snap” error is fixed.
Solution 2: Disable Chrome Extensions.
1. Open Google Chrome and go to chrome menu and choose "Settings".
2. Choose “Extensions” from the left pane.
3. From the installed Extensions, Disable or Remove any extension listed there.
4. Restart your Chrome browser and see if “Aw, Snap” error is fixed.
Solution 3: Disable Chrome Plugins
1. Open Google Chrome and at the “URL Address Bar”, type: chrome://plugins & press “Enter”.
2. At “Plug-ins” page, disable the “Adobe Flash Player” plugin and restart your browser. *
Notice: If you see a ”(2 files)” indication next to “Adobe Flash Player” plugin, then…
…press the “Details” link at the right and…
…“Disable” one of the two plugins found there (no matter which one) and restart your Chrome browser.
Check if “Aw, Snap” error is fixed. If not, then repeat this procedure, but this time “Disable” the other Adobe Flash Plugin and restart your Chrome browser again.
3. If you continue to face the “Aw, Snap” error, then disable the “Shockwave Flash Player” plugin if it exists, otherwise try to disable (one-by-one) all other plugins in the list to find out which of them causes the problem . Remember to restart your browser after every change you make. In case that you find the plugin that causes the problem, update the corresponding plugin from its Author’s (publisher) site.
Solution 4. Install an older version of Chrome.
First go to your Control Panel and uninstall Google Chrome.*
* Note: Before continuing to the next steps, first take a backup of your Chrome bookmarks.
1. To do that, go to:
- Windows 8/7/Vista: Start > Control Panel.
- Windows XP: Start > Settings > Control Panel
2. Double click to open
- Add or Remove Programs if you have Windows XP
- Programs and Features if you have Windows 8, 7 or Vista.
3. In the program list, find and uninstall “Google Chrome”.
4. Check to “Also delete your browsing data”.
5. Now download and install an older stable version of Google Chrome: e.g. Google Chrome 31.0.1650.63
6. Finally check if “Aw, Snap” error is fixed and your browser works properly. If so, then prevent Chrome automatic update (until the problem is fixed in a newer version) by using the instructions in this article: How to disable Google Chrome Automatic Update

I had this issue where it was every time I opened gmail and also aol had videos etc. Obnoxious.
I believe this was actually caused (in my case) by a memory issue. I also got memory-management BSOD and then MemoryPage BSOD.
It ended up being my memory was 1.65 V and also, I adjusted the timing from 9 to 10 and voila! NO MORE PROBLEMS!
I have a Rampage IV board and it has many BIOS settings, so I would caution anyone to just not buy expensive memory in some cases and just learn your hardware.

None of the Solutions seem to work for me. My hard ware was turned off, I have no extensions, I turned off the plugins that were causing the error, and I tried to install the older version of Chrome yet I always get the latest version of it.

I think one of the plugins and one of the extensions cause the problem.( shockwave flash player and unblock-youku). But I have to use them both. How can this issue be fixed.
