Specifically the "Google Play Services has stopped" & "com.google.process.gapps has stopped" errors, continually appear on your screen, even after taping “OK” (at the error(s)) or even after restarting or shutdown your device. How to fix ‘Google Play Services has stopped’ & ‘com.google.process.gapps has stopped’ errors on Android.
Method 1. Clear Cache & Data for Google Play Services and Apps.
Method 2. Disable and Re-Enable Download Manager.
Method 3. Restart Google Play Services.
Method 4. Uninstall Updates for Google Play Store and Google Play Services.
Method 5. Reset Apps Preferences.
Method 6. Reset your Android device to factory default settings.
Method 1. Clear Cache & Data for Google Play Services and Apps.
To fix problems with Google Play Services, first try to clear all the saved cache and data. To do that:
1. Open Android Settings.
2. Tap to open Application Manager or Apps menu. *
* Note: In Samsung S3 and other devices, the Application Manager (Apps) can be found under the More menu (on the top).
3. While in Application Manager, swipe to ‘ALL’ tab to display all installed apps and tap at Google Play Services.
4. At Google Play Services options, tap Clear cache.
5. Then tap Clear Data (or Manage space > Clear all data).
6. Tap OK to confirm your decision.
7. Repeat the same steps and delete Data and Cache for the following apps: *
- Google Play Store
- Google Play Music
* Note: Also, clear data and cache to any other app, that has problems.
8. Restart your Android device and then find out if the "com.google.process.gapps has stopped" & "Google Play Services has stopped" errors have disappeared.
Method 2. Disable and Re-Enable Download Manager.
Make sure that the Download Manager app is Enabled. (If it is already enabled, restart Download Manager):
1. Go to Settings > Application Manager and select the ALL tab.
2. Open Download Manager.
3. Tap Disable to disable Download Manager app. *
* Note: If Download Manager is already disabled, tap on Enable, and restart your Android Device.
4. Tap Enable.
5. Check if the Google Play Services error has gone.
Method 3. Restart Google Play Services.
Try to Disable and Re-Enable (Restart) the Google Play Services app:
1. Open Google Play Services options. (Settings > Application Manager > ALL > Google Play Services).
2. Tap Disable and then tab Enable to re-enable Google Play Services.
Method 4. Uninstall Updates for Google Play Store and Google Play Services.
To uninstall the latest updates for the Google Play Store and Google Play Services:
1. Open Google Play Store options.
2. Tap Force Stop.
3. Tap OK to confirm your decision.
4. Tap Uninstall Updates.
5. Tap OK to confirm your decision.
6. Perform the same steps and uninstall updates for the Google Play Services.
6. Restart your Android device.
Method 5. Reset apps preferences.
Another way to to resolve problems with the Google Play services & Store, is to reset all the app settings to default. To do that:
1. Go to Settings > Application Manager and select the ALL tab.
2. Tap the Option menu key (button), or tap the Three Dots icon on your screen.
2. Tap Reset app preferences (or Reset Apps).
3. Restart your Android Device.
Method 6. Reset your Android device to factory default settings.
The last method to fix “Google Play Services has Stopped” problem is to restore your Android device to factory state (Factory settings).
