@@Isabel: To continue you must find your product key, If you cannot, see if you can Skip the product key requirement stage and continue to installation. When the installation is completed, your Windows 8 will be activated automatically if you have previously activated them.

I used method 1 and it worked the first time. I had been trying to figure out how to get this product key in on Windows 8.0 pro 64 for two weeks. Thanks Ed Saunders

@Fraser Chen: You must have a product key to activate Windows. I can't help with that!

In addition to Colins information, you could try phone activation too:
    Activate Windows 7 manually:
    1. Click Start, and in the Search box type : slui.exe 4

    2. Press ENTER on your Keyboard

    3. Select your Country.
    4. Select the Phone Activation option, and hold on for a real person.

After trying the first method, I cannot type or copy-paste my product key in the WIndows Activation screen because 'certain characters are invalid' ex. I type the number '0' and a bubble pops out saying 'Character isn't valid: Some of these characters can't appear in a product key'. Any ideas as to how to get around this?

Probably you have installed a different version than the one that concerns your product key.
