Remove xVidly toolbar and xVidly download manager
xVidly toolbar is a useless toolbar installed by "xVidly download manager” hijacker program. The publisher “xvidly.com” claims that "xVidly” download manager is a useful and fast download client program, but when installed it can harms your computer in multiple ways. xVidly toolbar installer program, modifies your Internet search settings, changes your Internet home page to “search.conduit.com”, performs browsing redirects and also installs some other malicious programs and plugins inside your computer like “Search Protect by Conduit”, "Free Downloader Manager" (which download malicious programs) and “PricePeep”.
The xVidly download manager and any malicious software installed with it, is difficult to be uninstalled from your computer, but you can follow the steps below to safely remove all malicious programs from your computer:
How to remove "xVidly toolbar” and malicious software (Get Lyrics, Free download manager, PricePeep) installed by “xVidly download manager”from your computer:
Step 1: Prevent malicious programs running on Windows Startup
1. Download and run CCleaner.
2. At “CCleaner” main window choose "Tools" on the left pane.
3. In “Tools” section, choose “Uninstall”.
3a.Find and Select the “xvidly” program and choose “Delete Entry”. *
Notice*: DO NOT TRY to uninstall this program from Add/Remove programs in control panel (or from here using the "Uninstall" option), because the uninstaller application run malicious software inside your computer.
4.. In "Tools" section, choose "Startup".
4a. Choose "Windows” tab and then select and delete the following malicious entries:
i. Free Download Manager Jottix.com "C:\Program Files\Free Download Manager\fdm.exe" –autorun
ii. SearchProtect Conduit C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\SearchProtect\bin\cltmng.exe
iii. SearchProtectAll Conduit C:\Program Files\SearchProtect\bin\cltmng.exe
4b. Choose "Internet Explorer” tab and then select and delete the following malicious entries:
i. "Free Download Manager FreeDownloadManager.ORG C:\Program Files\Free Download Manager\iefdm2.dll"
ii. "Get Lyrics LEV Addons C:\Program Files\GetLyrics\getlrcs.dll"
iii. "xVidly1 Toolbar Conduit Ltd. C:\Program Files\xVidly1\prxtbxVid.dll"
4c. Choose "Firefox” tab and then select and delete the following malicious entries: *
Notice: If you cannot delete one of the bellow entries then Disable them.
i. "xVidly1 10.15.2.23 Conduit Ltd. default-1369822911830 C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\…
ii. Free Download Manager plugin 1.5.7.9 FreeDownloadManager.ORG default-1369822911830 C:\Program…"
iii. "Get Lyrics 1.111 default-1369822911830 C:\Program Files\GetLyrics\FF"
iv. "PricePeep 2.2.0.1 default-1369822911830 C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\…"
4d. Choose "Chrome” tab and then select and delete the following malicious entries:
i. "Get Lyrics 1.111 First user C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\meppmgfehplfblhnjfikekckcngogbai\1.111_0"
ii. "xVidly1_TEST 10.15.2.523 First user C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\khdbjicdngoonodcjggkioffhjlpicbp\10.15.2.523_0"
4e. Finally choose the “Scheduled Tasks” tab and Delete the following entry:
i. "Get Lyrics Update LEV Addons C:\Program Files\GetLyrics\GetLyricsUPD.exe /update"
5. Close “CCleaner” utility and restart your computer before proceeding to next Step.
Step 2. Uninstall all malicious applications installed with "xVidly download manager” from your Control panel.
1. To do this, go to Start > Control Panel.
{Start > Settings > Control Panel. (Windows XP)}
2. Double click to open “Add or Remove Programs” if you have Windows XP or
“Programs and Features” if you have Windows 8, 7 or Vista.
3. In the program list, find and Remove/Uninstall these applications:
a. Free Download Manager (By Free Download Manager.ORG)
b. Get Lyrics (By LEV Addons)
c. PricePeep (By betwikx LLC)
d. Search Protect by conduit (By Conduit)
e. xVidly1 Toolbar (By xVidly1)
Notice*: At any uninstall window, select to remove all components.
Step 3. Manually delete the following malicious folder/files (XVIDLY):
1. Press Start Button and on Search box (Run) type: %appdata%
2. From inside your “Roaming” folder DELETE the folder named “xVidly”:
Windows 8, 7, Vista: "C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\xVidly"
Windows XP: "C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\xVidly"
Step 4: Clean remaining registry entries using “AdwCleaner”.
1. Download and save “AdwCleaner” utility to your desktop.
2. Close all open programs and Double Click to open ”AdwCleaner” from your desktop.
3. Press “Delete”.
4. Press “OK” at “AdwCleaner – Information” window and press “OK” again to restart your computer.
5. When your computer restarts, close "AdwCleaner" information (readme) window and continue to the next step.
Step 5. Remove xVidly Toolbar from your browser and restore your internet browser settings.
Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox
Internet Explorer
How to remove xVidly Toolbar from Internet Explorer and restore IE search settings.
1. Open Internet Explorer and then open “Internet Options”.
To do this from IE’s file menu, choose “Tools” > “Internet Options”.
Notice*: In the latest versions of IE press the “Gear” icon on the top right.
2. Click the “Advanced” tab.
3. Choose “Reset”.
4. Check (to enable) the “Delete personal settings” box and choose “Reset”.
5. After the resetting action is completed, press “Close” and then choose “OK” to exit Internet Explorer options.
6. Close all Internet Explorer windows and proceed to Step 6.
How to remove xVidly Toolbar from Google Chrome and restore Chrome search settings.
1. Open Google Chrome and go to chrome menu and choose "Settings".
2. Find the "On startup" section and choose "Set Pages".
3. Delete the "search.conduit.com" from startup pages by pressing the "X" symbol on the right.
4. Set your preferred startup page (e.g. http://www.google.com) and press "OK".
5. Under “Appearance” section, check to enable the “Show Home button” option and choose “Change”.
6. Delete the “search.conduit.com” entry from “Open this page” box.
7. Type (if you like) you preferred webpage to open when you press your “Home page” button (e.g. www.google.com) or leave this field blank and press “OK”.
5. Go to "Search" section and choose "Manage search engines".
6. Choose your preferred default search engine (e.g. Google search) and press "Make default".
7. Then choose the "search.conduit.com" search engine and remove it by pressing the "X" symbol at the right. Choose "OK" to close "Search engines" window.
8. Choose "Extensions" on the left.
9. In “Extensions” options, remove the “xVidly1” extension by clicking the recycle icon at the right.
10. Close all Google Chrome windows and proceed to Step 6.
How to remove xVidly Toolbar from Mozilla Firefox and restore Firefox search settings..
1. Click on “Firefox” menu button on the top left of Firefox window and go to “Help” > “Troubleshooting Information”.
2. In “Troubleshooting Information” window, press “Reset Firefox” button to reset Firefox to its default state.
3. Press “Reset Firefox” again.
4. After the resetting job is completed, Firefox restarts.
5. Close all Firefox windows and proceed to the next Step.
Step 6. Clean unwanted files and entries.
Run “CCleaner” program again and proceed to clean your system from temporary internet files and invalid registry entries.*
