How to Block Edge Chromium from Installing Automatically in Windows 10.
Since automatic delivery of the Chrome-based Edge browser, after you install the KB4559309 update, can cause your computer to start and run slowly, in this article you will find instructions on how to prevent the Edge Chromium from installing automatically in Windows 10.
The new Chromium-based version of Microsoft Edge based was released in late June 2020 and is installed automatically with the KB4559309 update. But, once installed, it replaces the old version of Microsoft Edge and can make your computer slower. If you want to avoid that, then you can block the Chromium version of Edge from being installed automatically, by using one of the methods below.

How to Prevent Microsoft Edge Chromium version from Installing Automatically in Windows 10.
Method 1. Block Edge Chromium Automatic Installation with Blocker Toolkit.
Method 2. Prevent Edge Chromium from Installing Automatically using Registry.
Method 1. Block Edge Chromium Automatic Installation with Blocker Toolkit.
Microsoft has released the Blocker Toolkit to block automatic delivery of Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) to Windows 10 version 1803 and newer.
To prevent the automatic delivery of Microsoft Edge Chromium using the Blocker Toolkit:
1. Click here (direct link) to download the Blocker Toolkit executable file. (Source)
2. Run the downloaded file "MicrosoftEdgeChromiumBlockerToolkit.exe" and click Yes at the first screen.
3. At extract location box type C:\EdgeBlock and click OK.
4. At the next screen ask Yes to create the new folder (C:\Edge).
5. When files extracted, open Command Prompt as Administrator and navigate to the C:\Edge folder, by typing this command:
- CD C:\EdgeBlock
6. Next, copy & paste the following command and press Enter, to block the Edge Chromium installation:
- EdgeChromium_Blocker.cmd /b
7. Upon the command executed, the legacy version of Microsoft Edge will return. *

Method 2. Prevent Edge Chromium to be Installed Automatically using Registry.
1. Open the registry Editor. To do that:
a. Simultaneously press the Windows + R keys to open run command box.
b. Type regedit and press Enter.
2. Navigate to the following key at the left pane:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
3. Right-click at Microsoft key and select New > Key.
4. Type as key name EdgeUpdate and press Enter.
5. At the right pane: Right-click at the empty space and select New > DWORD (32-bit) value.
6. Type as value name: DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium and press Enter.
7. Open the newly created value, type 1 as Value data and click OK.
8. Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer. *
