Finally stopped the constant re-install of the "wauaserv" listing in the Registry. Here's what I had to do:

I deleted the entry, but it would always come back.
First I installed a Freeware program called "Starter", and disabled (and then removed) On Drive. I can do my own Cloud Storage or use an external Drive if I need stuff. I though that maybe that was the culprit that kept putting back the Registry entry. But that didn't work, but I am leaving it installed anyway.
The second trick worked. I installed the Freeware from O&O software called "OOSU10 AntiSpy++ for windows 10/11, and used all the pre-selected settings that kills communications to Microsoft (And also checked one or two other items I didn't want, but not sure they were needed.). This did the trick – Windows is no longer reporting back to Microsoft, and for 2 days now "wuauserv" no longer returns!

I used method 6 to disable windows 11 updates on a personal laptop (not on a group network).

It worked for about 4 months until Apr-28 2024 when I logged in (the machine was previously shutdown). A screen appeared to force an update, so I reluctantly accepted it with a restart.
The update caused problems on my OBS studio program, which is why I disabled it.

How is MSFT able to force a manual update right after login? Can this be blocked or disabled in the future?
