    Here's what worked for me:

Open Word, click on the "office button" in the upper left hand corner of the screen
Click on Word Options at the bottom of the drop down menu
Click on Advanced in the list of options
Scroll down to Cut, Copy and Paste
At the bottom of the list within Cut, Copy and Paste, Click on Settings
Choose Microsoft Word 2002 – 2007 (Mine had been set at "Custom" and that seems to have been the cause of the problem.)
Click OK, then click on OK again to exit back to your original document
