How to FIX: Cannot Add Exchange O365 Account – The name cannot be matched to a name in the address.
To resolve the error "The action cannot be completed. The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list" during adding an Office 365 account in Outlook, follow the instructions below.
1. Login to Office 365 Admin center and go to Users > Active Users.
2. Click on the User where you face the error "The action cannot be completed. The name cannot be matched…"
3. At the Mail tab click Edit Exchange properties.
4. Check the Hide from address lists option and click Save.
5. Now proceed and setup the OE365 account in Outlook on the client's machine. Normally, the account setup process will complete without any problems. *
* Note: If you still cannot add the Exchange account, restart the PC and try again.
6. After adding the email account in Outlook, navigate again to O365 admin center and check back the setting "Hide from address lists option", if you want the user to appear in your organization's address list.
