Google Chrome history is empty
Today my chrome browser history stopped working!
I 'm running Chrome version 23.0.1271.95 m, which is the latest version as of DEC 4th of 2012 (but I have seen this problem on other versions too) and suddenly Chrome history (Ctrl+H) stopped displaying my browsing history, but it does work when I search for certain items.
This problem is usually due to a corrupted profile.
To solve the problem I did these steps:
1. First export your Google Chrome bookmarks.
Notice*: If you have already registered for a Google account, you can skip this step, and use Google's Chrome Sign-In feature to synchronize your Google chrome settings with your Google account.
2. Exit Google Chrome
3. Then navigate to your user’s profile path according to these instructions:
3a. Go to the Start menu > Run
3b. At the "Run command box" copy and paste one of the following commands according to your operating system version and then press "OK"
a. For Windows XP:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\
b. For Windows Vista/ Windows 7:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\
4. Locate the folder called "Default" in the directory window that opens and rename* it as "Backup Default"
Notice*: To rename a folder, right click on it using your mouse and choose "Rename"
5. Open Google Chrome again.
(A new "Default" profile folder is automatically created as you start using the browser)
6. Finally import your Bookmarks
Everything should be fine now. Open your Google Chrome browser and press "Ctrl+H" and check if your history is now working.
