Good process, but for me it works only to a degree. The major problem is that after expansion in 7-ZIP, I used the extracted file to create a new ISO doubling its size. In my example, I modified Windows 98 SE ISO boot image to include gcdrom.sys to allow CD boot. Since I had to write ISO back to a DVD, Windows 98 can't be installed since the driver does not recognize the DVD disk. The original ISO image was 640,226 KB, the edited ISO came up to 1,324,316 KB. I wish there was a way to compress ISO to it's original size fitting one CD, then I noticed that ImageBurn does not allow writing to a CD, DVD's only.

Normally you should not receive this error. Follow the instructions exactly.

I have a question about the process for Windows 7. Step 3 #2 is to Mount the original ISO image file, but you can't mount an ISO to a drive letter like you can in Windows 10. I see you have Virtual Clone Drive installed, which allows mounting to a drive letter. If I mount the ISO that way, will it be recognized & used properly in Step 3 #5b?

@Bruno: I haven't tried with a Linux ISO, but I believe that will work.

    Thank you,
Do I need any procedures, or just replace it?
